Speedo requirements

Post by Linesy » Thu Jun 18, 2015 9:34 pm

Hey Team,

I am currently having a carbon dash made for my Leitch and am now thinking I need to replace my Smiths gauges with something a little more modern to complement it.

A couple of questions -

1. Is it a requirement to have a Odometer?
2. Is there a certain size requirement for digital readouts and backlighting?

I have found a tidy combined Analouge Tach, digital speedo that I think would look pretty good.

Thanks

I contacted the LVVTA with some questions on this,

Speedos must have backlighting, be well visible and accurate.

Forgot to ask about the odometer.....

I assume you want rid of your Smiths gauges?

You need a back light (but they dont check)
Needs to be within 10% accurate
Cant be GPS
And Im sure you would need an odometer but dont know this 100%

I havnt had a speedo for over 2 years now! Odometer has been the same for the last 4 wofs!
