My car so far

Lotus 7 Chart.pdf

I bought my car in Dec 2008 and on thinking it through I believe
I have replaced 50% of it so far

Above is the dyno chart for the car with settings at 10 and 14 lbs boost
There is a variable base setting for base boost and that is now 12lbs such that it is
12lb and 16lb which probably means the dyno readings shown are conservative
There is a switch on the dash that brings on the extra horse power

The thing to draw your attention to is the torque figure. The previous owner spent $2000
in dyno fees to get that line to look that way 400nm at 4000 revs

Things that have changed
From front to rear is easiest
New Cooling fan bigger and more puff
Air ducted to Oil Cooler
Steering box reworked and remounted to remove bump steer (was very scary it was)
Radiator piping improved and secondary filler access provided
Front and rear suspension replaced with shocks ex McGregor Motorsport
with 30 settings and these transformed the car
Front brakes replaced ie disks calipers and pads
3rd type of pad (EBC Yellow) now at top of heat range as the others crystalised
Was running Yokohama Advan A048 205x60x13 on light weigh rims and have
replaced with Avanti 17inch rims running 235/45/17 R888s which have much softer
side walls to me and complement the suspension ( the old tyres and rims (5) are for sale)
This has geared the car up 10% but with the torque its easier to drive
The sump has been replaced with a custom item that tucks itself up into the car
and looks like an upside down mushroom
The exhaust has been removed and all welds replaced and then fully rapped
in heat shield through to where it exists the car
Currently modifying the bonnet scoop that ducts air to the inter cooler
Mud guards have been widened 50mm to cover slightly wider tyres and
these are being veneered in carbon fibre
Gear box changed as the gears had given their all
Steering wheel changed to a removable MOMO and custom boss made
Floor pan cross member added so its easier getting in an out
New Seats that lowered my 6'3" frame down into the car
New taller wind shield and side wind shields and new fire extinguisher
Adjusted pedal box for my big feet
Better mirrors fitted
The PCD was 108 but restricted much and to my joy the rear was double holed at 114.3
so did the fronts as well that opened the door to a wider assortment of mags
New wheel studs
Battery changed over
Remounting spare as a bit bigger now

To do

Fit the in wheel/tyre sensors for temp and pressure
Figure out the air flow through the engine bay and improve
New dash and align the gauge colours (some white some black)
Rear linkage system anti roll seems odd every time we look at it
Rear guard protector facings
New radiator with greater volume and a second look at the oil cooler
A better gear box as too much is being asked of the current one
Interior carpets and leather bits to suit
Push button start and ignition kill switch
New Bonnet
Paint the body and this is final item

I would like to thank company's who have assisted me
First, foremost, and primarily Mac Gregor Motorsport and there after ASB BNZ ANZ
and WESTPAC in making all this possible

The car was bought because it was scary and it is
Going to the track is fun once a month or so ie. on a friday with no one other
that the stop watch keeping score as my used by date on racing is well
over
I am interested in the car as a road car with a track fun element that
gives it a second dimension and so teaches you things that you would other
wise not appreciate
Beyond this is the hope that occasionally something
really expensive pulls up beside me at the lights and wants to prove
that their money can over come my power to weight ratio

Cheers

That's serious stuff - you must be looking at F1 technology there :)

as yet have not settled on a replacement

Cheers

Nice, I remember the car now, I saw it at Mcgregors when it was getting the windscreen fitted.

I have had trouble with sump temperatures and as a consequence delivered the car
to Spec Performance for tuning and a few alterations

The outcome is attached
Dynolotus.pdf
(148.5 KiB) Downloaded 193 times
The bottom set of lines show a very leaky inlet and inter cooler

The second and higher lines so the car as it performs now

I have not yet driven it much but I believe it will take some getting used too

The 17inch wheels come into their own and the way it squats when you push the go button
will require some adjustment in thinking
